Dance Floor With Cacti, 2016
Installation, Paradise exhibition curated by George Vavilousakis
18.3.16 - 17.4.16, PIRÉE, Piraeus, Greece, Group show in a newly energised industrial space.

The dance floor with Cacti, "Paradise itself", suggested a space where the thorns around the designated area for dancing set a clear boundary yet a possibly harmful one for the dancer. Cacti affects make each move imagined to be performed with extra attention.

Notes from the curatorial text on the basic conceptual axis of this show curated by the artist George Vavilousakis: The exhibition proposed the subject of "Paradise", a theme that has been extensively approached throughout the history of art. It was designed to gain an open and research based character. The artists were called to bring fourth their interpretations of this theme taking under consideration social, political, religious and existential issues. Constantly expanding or relocated notions such as guilt, shame, temptation, fallacy but also perfection, bliss and the connection with the bond with nature, were put on the table along with the questions "what is Heaven? Eternal or timeless, earthly or supernal, compensation or a right?".

Participating artists:
